Weekend Warriors is a Canadian based production company specializing in the seriousness of creativity and utter nonsense.
We are engaged in telling all sorts of stories in all sorts of formats, be it short films, photography, anthology based stories or just random ramblings.
Additionally we work on a wide range of podcasts that range from the serious to the trivial and everything in between.
We take our name from the idea that the most unserious of people can in fact take things seriously (plus it was an insult leveled against us once and we just kind of dug it).
Who Are We
Jonathan Smelcer
Jon grew up in the not very dangerous burbs of the GTA. He started at a very young age trying to overcome this true hardship by diving into the arts. First with making a whole bunch of unfunny comic strips to stilted plays to some actually legitimately good animations (in spite of his inability to draw).
From there he moved into technology due to the siren call of MSN and ICQ (Yes he is that old…) and it was only after answering one phone call while drunk about directing a fringe play that brought him back into the art scene.
He can usually be found running late from one hobby to another while listening to way to many podcasts or chasing his daughter around and trying to convince her that “no you can’t climb on that”.
